Over the past week, the incidence of acute intestinal infections in the Amur region increased by 7.4%. More than half of the cases are children aged three to 14 years.

According to the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor, the incidence rate was 15.46 cases per 100,000 population. This is 48.6% higher than the long-term average for the summer period, writes IA PriamurMedia.

Experts note that the high incidence is associated with an increase in the activity of intestinal pathogens typical for summer. In addition, the spread of infection is facilitated by poor hygiene, the use of substandard products and violation of cooking and storage technology, as well as bathing in unauthorized bodies of water.

At the end of July, an outbreak of intestinal infection was registered in a children's camp in the Saratov region. According to the results of the analysis of the material from the patients, norovirus RNA was detected.
