Sedentary lifestyle, stress and eye overload lead to unpleasant consequences that are often ignored until the first serious signals. Gulnara Orlova, cardiologist, Director of Insurance Products and Customer Experience at Rosgosstrakh Life Insurance Company, told Izvestia on August 6 what can be done to preserve health.
According to her, sitting motionless for a long time leads to back and neck pain. To avoid this, it is important to properly organize the workplace and get up every 60 minutes to warm up.
"It is desirable that the monitor is at eye level, the lower back rests on the back of a chair, rather than leaning forward, and the elbows are on the table. Even in the workplace, you can do small exercises — shoulder rotation, head tilts and turns, body twisting," said Orlova.
The specialist drew attention to the fact that working behind the screen also negatively affects vision. To reduce eye strain, use the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at an object in 20 steps for 20 seconds. Adjust the brightness of the monitor and provide good lighting.
As for stress at work, the doctor added, it can lead to burnout. According to her, it is important to take short breaks to relax without gadgets. Even 10 minutes of silence or a walk in the fresh air can help reduce anxiety.
"Even if all the recommendations are followed, problems occur: a sharp back pain, an exacerbation of a chronic disease, or an alarming symptom that requires medical advice. In order not to get lost in such situations, it is worth considering life and health insurance coverage.
