A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. Russian military personnel, using aeroballistic hypersonic Kinzhal missiles and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), hit the infrastructure of military airfields of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). All designated facilities were hit.

In addition, the Zapad group of troops defeated the formations of the Ukrainian army brigades in the areas of Kupyansk, Alexandrovka, Peschanoe, Kharkiv region, and Novoselovka in the DPR. As a result of the military's actions, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 225 militants, two armored combat vehicles and 19 vehicles. Three ammunition depots and five electronic warfare stations were also destroyed.

"The units of the Center group of forces have improved their position along the front line. The formations of two mechanized, jaeger, airmobile, two airborne assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and two National Guard brigades were defeated. <...> The losses of the Ukrainian armed forces amounted to more than 385 military personnel, two infantry fighting vehicles, two vehicles and two field artillery guns," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, attack UAVs, missiles and artillery, defeated a workshop for the production of unmanned boats, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 districts. Air defense systems, in turn, shot down a US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher and 120 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 664 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 74,580 UAVs, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 24,442 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,584 multiple rocket launchers, 28,160 field artillery and mortars, 39,115 pieces of special vehicles.
