Kursk Region Development Corporation JSC will be abolished. This was announced on August 4 by Alexander Khinshtein, Acting Governor of the Kursk Region, during an operational meeting of the regional government.
"We (the authorities. We are abolishing this organization, we understand that after all that has happened, it will be almost impossible to clean up its karma," Khinstein said, the broadcast of the speech was published on the official page of the regional government on the VKontakte social network.
He also added that the obligations that the corporation assumed as contractors for a number of other facilities will remain, including obligations to subcontractors. The acting governor added that these conditions apply if subcontractors are "decent, professional and at large."
On March 19, the United Press service of the judicial system of the region in the Telegram channel announced the satisfaction of the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office and the recovery of over 4.1 billion rubles in favor of the Russian Federation from former officials who led the Kursk Development Corporation - Vladimir Lukin, Igor Grabin, Snezhana Martyanova and others.
Alexey Smirnov, ex-governor of the Kursk region, was detained on April 16. Vladimir Lukin, the former director general of the Kursk Region Development Corporation, testified against him, having already been arrested in the case of embezzlement during the construction of fortifications. On the same day, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested the former head of the Kursk region for two months. Later, on June 6, his detention was extended until September 15.
According to Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, law enforcement officers charged Smirnov and his deputy Alexei Dedov with embezzlement of more than 1 billion rubles.
