Forecaster warned of heavy rains in Moscow this week

The southern regions of the Moscow region were affected by the cyclone, where intense thunderstorms are observed, and hail was recorded in Kolomna. During the day, bad weather will spread to the entire territory of Moscow. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on August 4.

According to her, heavy rains are expected in Moscow today, which in some places will be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Precipitation can reach 20-30 mm, which is significantly higher than the average for this time of year. The temperature background will remain at the level of +23...+25 degrees, while during a thunderstorm, sharp wind gusts of up to 17 m per second are possible.

"And the upcoming night will also have difficult weather, as well as heavy rains, thunderstorms in some places. The amount of residues can also reach 20-25 mm in places. Due to clouds, the night will be relatively warm — +16...+17 degrees in Moscow, +14...+19 degrees in the region. During thunderstorms and nights, wind gusts can reach 12-15 m per second. It is possible that almost a month's precipitation will fall in some places today and tomorrow," the forecaster said.

The improvement of weather conditions will begin only in the second half of Tuesday, when the rains will gradually weaken. However, the weather will not be completely clear — significant clouds and a noticeable north-westerly wind will remain.

The weather will continue to change in the second half of the week. On Wednesday, a temporary clearing is expected and the temperature will rise to +25...+27 degrees in the afternoon. However, on Thursday and Friday, rains of varying intensity are forecast again, with daytime temperatures dropping to +22...+24 degrees.

According to the meteorologist, stable summer weather will return to the region only on weekends. Sunny weather without precipitation is expected on Saturday with temperatures of +20...+25 degrees during the daytime and +14...+16 degrees at night.

On August 1, Pozdnyakova said that residents of the capital should adapt to the new climatic conditions, which are similar to the subtropical climate. According to her, the heat above +30 degrees and heavy rains are now part of the new climate regime.
