Police officers have opened a criminal case into the collision of a tour bus with a train in the Leningrad region. This was announced on August 4 in the main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

"The police have opened a criminal case into a collision between a bus and a train at a railway crossing near Lodeynoye Pole," the department's Telegram channel says.

They added that the case was initiated under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles").

An investigation is currently underway.

A tour bus collided with a train in the Leningrad Region earlier that day. As a result of this incident, one person was killed and 16 others were injured. According to the Izvestia source, the passengers on the bus were pilgrims who were traveling to Tutaev in the Yaroslavl region.
