The new Gelendzhik Airport has accepted the first flight from St. Petersburg
The first flight from St. Petersburg landed at Gelendzhik Airport. The northern capital is now only four and a half hours away from the beaches and the sea. It will take more than a day by car to cover the same distance. The first passengers of the new flight were greeted in the best traditions: they were expected at the airline, where almost everything is amazing — from the exterior design to the technological capabilities inside.
"We visit often. Now, of course, it will be more convenient, it speeds up. Moreover, we were promised 4 hours and 50 minutes on the flight, but we managed it in 4 hours. We read (about the new airport. — Ed.), yes, but only briefly. Now we will get acquainted," said passenger Andrey.
The footage shows that passengers are going to an unfamiliar terminal, where the suitcases are already traveling on the baggage belt. In the Northern Capital, passengers admitted that they had taken their tickets in advance because they were quickly sorted. The 291st flight was sent from the symbolic 78th stand, the number of which means the code of St. Petersburg. Previously, to get to Gelendzhik from St. Petersburg, you had to travel by car for more than a day, or first get to Novorossiysk by train, and then by bus from Gelendzhik bus station.
"Now the airport has been opened, it is the most beautiful. One of the most beautiful airports. We saw it on TV, the reports there, and so on. We'll watch it live today. And we are very happy," said Vasily and Tatiana Lovlina.
Muscovites were the first to evaluate the new air harbor on July 18. For convenience, there is a spacious parking lot in front of the airport, a separate parking lot for taxis and rented cars so that there are no traffic jams. The building is a marvel of engineering and design thought. The 1,000-ton roof, like the wing of a bird soaring over the bay, is supported only by openwork columns, outside and inside the building, which look like art objects. The facade is made of curved, durable glass. Inside there is a convenient baggage claim area, a waiting room, cafes and restaurants, a medical center, and a room for the child's mother, which has all the amenities. There is also a full-fledged bank branch.
"The mother and child's room is equipped with a play area, as well as a kitchen where passengers can warm up baby food, sleeping places and changing tables," said Anna Gritsenko, senior agent of the Gelendzhik Airport Passenger transportation service.
The geography of flights will be expanded in the near future. In total, the new airport will serve about 10 aircraft per day. They will fly directly to Moscow or back to St. Petersburg. Also Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, where direct flights will also depart from here very soon.
The new Gelendzhik Airport received the first plane from St. Petersburg on August 3. It was clarified that the flight was operated by Utair, and the travel time was about 4.5 hours.
On July 18, Gelendzhik Airport accepted the first flight from Moscow. The opening of the airport in Gelendzhik caused a stir among tourists, tickets for the first and next flights were sold out after the start of sales.
