Olympic bronze medalist wrestler Vladimir Popov has died in Omsk.
Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in classical wrestling, bronze medalist of the 1988 Olympic Games, world champion Vladimir Popov died in Omsk at the age of 64. This was announced on August 3 on the page of the Omsk Region Wrestling Federation on the VKontakte social network.
"The farewell ceremony will take place on August 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Resurrection Military Cathedral," the message says.
It is noted that Popov made a significant contribution to the development of the Omsk wrestling school, and also achieved high achievements in the world sports arena.
The athlete was born on January 1, 1962 in Barnaul. During his career, the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in classical wrestling became the bronze medalist of the 1988 Olympic Games, world champion, World Cup winner, two-time champion of Europe and the USSR.
