The death toll from the El Teniente copper mine accident in the O'Higgins region of Chile has increased to three people, with two more trapped in the mine. This was announced on August 3 by the press service of Codelco.
"In parallel with the efforts that we continue to make to save our two colleagues who remain blocked, Codelco is ready to provide all necessary support to families and loved ones at this difficult moment," the company said in a Facebook post (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
It is specified that one of the dead miners has been identified, the identities of two more are being established.
The mine accident in Chile became known on July 31. Initially, it was reported about one dead and five missing. It is specified that the incident occurred after the collapse caused by a strong earthquake.
