Over a week, more than 2.8 thousand people have been infected with chikungunya fever in China's southern province of Guangdong. This was reported on August 3 by the Sina News portal.
"From 00:00 on July 27, 2025 to 24:00 on August 2, 2025, 2,892 new cases of chikungunya fever were registered in the province. <...> The rapid growth of the epidemic in Guangdong province was initially contained, and the number of new reported cases this week is showing a downward trend," the publication notes.
Most cases of infection were recorded in the city of Foshan. It is specified that no serious cases or deaths have been registered.
The Chinese publication Stdaily reported on July 24 that the number of people infected with chikungunya fever in southern China has increased to more than 3 thousand people. The first case of this fever in China was detected on July 8 in the city of Foshan.
