A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that units of the North group of forces improved their tactical position and defeated seven regiments and a brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the area of eight settlements in the Donetsk region, as well as two brigades and a regiment of the AFU in the vicinity of three settlements in the Kharkiv region. The enemy's losses in the group's area of responsibility amounted to 185 soldiers, three artillery pieces, 17 vehicles, three armored combat vehicles and the Israeli radar station RADA RPS-42.
Artillery, missile forces, drone strike operators, and aviation hit anti-aircraft missile system positions, military airfield infrastructure, long-range drone storage and launch preparation sites, and temporary deployment sites for Ukrainian formations and foreign mercenaries in 139 districts.
The air defense system includes 274 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles and two American multiple launch rocket systems HIMARS.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 664 aircraft, 1584 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 283 helicopters, 24432 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 28136 field artillery and mortars, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 39069 units of special military vehicles, 74460 unmanned aerial vehicles have been destroyed.
