The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Moldova has registered the opposition Patriotic Electoral Bloc (BEP) as a candidate in the parliamentary elections. This was announced on August 3 by former President of the country, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon.

The new bloc unites three Socialist parties, the "Heart of Moldova" (Inima Moldovei) and the "Future of Moldova".

"We are ready to prove that the country does not belong to strangers and merchants of the homeland, but to people who work here and love their land. <...> The patriotic bloc is ready to fight and win," Dodon wrote on his Telegram channel.

He stressed that from now on, no one will be able to prevent the opposition from bringing forces to parliament that protect the sovereignty of the republic, its traditions, as well as the rights of every citizen.

Elections to the Moldovan parliament will be held on September 28.

Earlier, on July 19, the Central Election Commission of Moldova, by a majority vote, did not allow the opposition bloc Pobeda to participate in the parliamentary elections. Vasily Bolya, a representative of the Pobeda bloc, in turn, expressed his intention to appeal the decision in court.

Later, on August 2, the Supreme Judicial Chamber of Moldova rejected the protest of the Victory bloc against the refusal to register to participate in the parliamentary elections. It was clarified that the decision was final and not subject to appeal. Bolya, in turn, announced the intention of the bloc's parties to discuss their participation separately.
