The new comet 3I/ATLAS does not pose a threat to Earth and the world's population. This was announced on August 3 by Sergey Yazev, a senior researcher at the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor at Irkutsk State University (IGU).

"The object under discussion will never be near the Earth, it will pass several tens of millions of kilometers from our planet. No one can say which sizes are common and which are unusual for interstellar comets. These statistics are still ridiculously small," he said in an interview with TASS.

The scientist emphasized that this is indeed a comet, and not a fighter ship with weapons or a spy spaceship, as previously assumed.

Earlier, on August 2, Harvard astrophysicist Loeb stated that a potentially dangerous interstellar object 3I/ATLAS could reach Earth by the end of 2025. According to him, it may turn out to be an alien ship capable of carrying a probe or a weapon.

Later, the Daily Mail newspaper reported on the possible fulfillment of the prediction of British scientist Stephen Hawking about an "alien invasion" due to the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS moving towards Earth. The publication recalled that the scientist had warned of a catastrophe for humanity in the event of contact with alien life.
