A cat stuck in a hole of the Fontanka Embankment was rescued in St. Petersburg.

In St. Petersburg, a cat was released, stuck in a narrow opening between the granite slabs of the Fontanka Embankment. This was reported on August 3 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

According to local resident Vitaly, who had been feeding the animal for two months, the animal spent about a week in "stone captivity" after suffering a paw injury. The situation was complicated by the fact that the cat was located at a depth of four meters between boulders, and access to it was partially flooded with water.

The volunteers of Koshkispas tried unsuccessfully for several days to get the animal with a garrote and glanders, until they finally freed the frightened pet. The cat is currently undergoing treatment at the veterinarians.

According to rescuers, if the water level had risen sharply, the animal would have inevitably died.
