A criminal case has been opened into an accident in the village of Gorny Moriny, Novgorod region, which resulted in the death of a man and a child. This was reported on August 3 in the press service of the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under paragraphs "a", "b", Part 6, Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles")," the Telegram channel says.

It is specified that a 25-year-old man is suspected of committing a crime. According to investigators, he was intoxicated and was driving from the Mountainous Morinas towards Veliky Novgorod. The driver couldn't keep up with the fellow cyclists and collided with them. A man and one child died, and another two-year-old girl was taken to the hospital.

Currently, the suspect has been detained, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. Investigative measures are being carried out in the criminal case in order to collect and consolidate evidence.

A Volkswagen Tuareg driver hit a group of three cyclists on August 2. A man and a nine-year-old girl died on the spot, the condition of the injured child was not reported.
