Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for an urgent start to drawing up an action plan for the implementation of the outcome of the UN conference, whose meetings were devoted to the recognition of Palestinian sovereignty. This was announced on August 2 by the country's Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekyan.

"President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed to immediately develop an action plan to implement the outcome of the recent High-level International Conference on a Two—State Solution held in New York," the Palestinian WAFA news agency quoted her as saying.

Aghabekyan stressed that the "politically important" conference was notable for its content. Also, according to the publication, the minister noted that there is a growing interest in the issue of recognizing two states in the world — currently 149 countries intend to recognize Palestine. At the same time, this number may increase through diplomatic efforts.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on July 24 that France would recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September 2026. Later, on July 28, The Times newspaper learned that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, under pressure from the cabinet, plans to present a plan for the recognition of Palestine, which will include certain conditions.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who criticized Macron's plan to recognize Palestine, on Thursday, July 31, called the issue of recognizing Palestine "insignificant" for the United States and added that this process is impossible without Israel's consent.
