Putin congratulates railway transport workers on their professional holiday

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Russian railway transport workers on Railway Workers' Day. The corresponding appeal was published on the Kremlin's website on August 3.

"Dear employees and veterans of Russian railway transport! I congratulate you on your professional holiday — Railway Worker's Day... Hundreds of thousands of people ensure reliable operation of communication routes: dispatchers and engineers, machinists and conductors, repairmen and track walkers, transport builders and many others. I would like to thank everyone who works on the Russian railways, as well as industry veterans, for your dedication," Putin said.

He stressed that thanks to their responsible and hard work, Russian railways operate clearly and smoothly, connecting cities and regions. Through their efforts, a powerful infrastructure base has been created in the Russian Federation, which ensures the stability of the economy and the defense capability of the state. Putin recalled that this year's holiday is celebrated in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, when railway workers showed courage and perseverance, ensuring the work of industry and the supply of the front.

It is specified that railway transport in the Russian Federation is developing, large-scale, landmark projects are being launched. The Baikal-Amur (BAM) and Trans-Siberian highways are being expanded, other routes and approaches to seaports and terminals are being upgraded, including on the Kola Peninsula and in the Far East. It is also planned to lay and upgrade routes in the north of the country, as well as create the country's first high-speed highway from Moscow to St. Petersburg.

On August 2, Putin congratulated soldiers and officers on the Day of the Airborne Troops, mentioning that the current generation is valiantly fighting for truth and justice during a special operation. According to Putin, the courage, fearlessness and fortitude of the Airborne soldiers will always be an example of "genuine patriotism, loyalty to the oath and military duty."
