Rada to consider bill on ratification of 100-year partnership with Britain
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill that provides for the ratification of the partnership agreement with the United Kingdom for a period of 100 years. This was reported on August 2 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".
The document implies the development of cooperation between Kiev and London in military and non-military aspects on a wide range of issues. In particular, the UK is committed to providing military assistance to Ukraine annually in the amount of 3 billion pounds (almost $4 billion) "for as long as it takes."
As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", the agreement was signed in January, but has not yet entered into force.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in January that Moscow considers the partnership agreement between Ukraine and the UK as a PR campaign by the Kiev regime. In addition, she stated that 100 years is rather a symbolic period and this document will soon be forgotten.
The document in question was signed on January 16 by Zelensky and Starmer, who arrived in Kiev. Following the talks, the Prime Minister said that the UK would always be ready to play a leading role in supporting Ukraine.
