In Chuvashia, a pensioner died while trying to disinfect a basement with smoke, and six more people were injured. This was reported on August 2 in the press service of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

"On August 1, 2025, in the village of Churachiki in the Civil Municipal District, a man born in 1939 started a fire there in order to disinfect the basement of his garage from mold and fungi using smoke from coniferous cones," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that the man died from poisoning by gorenje products, six people were injured, including his daughter and neighbors who tried to save him. They are currently receiving the necessary medical care.

"On this fact, the investigative authorities of the SU TFR in Chuvashia organized a pre—investigation check," the Investigative Committee clarified.
