Russians can receive a tax deduction for medical treatment and medicines. Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, recalled this on August 2.

He clarified that the deduction allows you to return funds for medicines prescribed by a doctor and take into account insurance premiums under a voluntary health insurance contract for yourself or family members. The maximum amount you can get back is up to 19.5 thousand rubles.

"To confirm the right to a social deduction for medical services, you must attach a certificate of payment in the form approved by the order of the Federal Tax Service of Russia," Balynin told the Prime news agency.

The expert said that in order to receive a tax deduction for the purchase of medicines, citizens need to submit two key documents: a prescription form and a receipt or other payment document.

With regard to receiving a tax deduction for expenses for the purchase of a VMI policy, it is necessary to submit a voluntary medical insurance contract or the insurance policy itself, as well as a receipt or other payment document.

On the same day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned that fraudsters could use "State Services" to apply for a tax deduction to their own account. By obtaining an account on the portal, fraudsters gain access to passport data, SNILS, credit history, and real estate information. With this information, scammers can call their victims, extorting money.
