An employee of the Jerusalem zoo died after being attacked by a leopard that escaped from its enclosure during a guided tour. This was reported on August 2 by the Jerusalem Post newspaper.

According to the newspaper, the incident occurred on the morning of August 1, when 36-year-old Uriel Nuri was preparing predators for a demonstration as part of a closed tour. According to the Jerusalem Bible Zoo, the leopard managed to escape from the enclosure into the courtyard and attacked an employee.

"A 36-year-old employee was found unconscious with severe neck wounds. Medical sources reported that he was evacuated to the Hadassah University Medical Center in Ein Kerem in critical condition," the publication says.

The man later died from his injuries. At the time of the incident, Nuri held the position of head of the predator care group, and he regularly posted videos about working with big cats on his social networks.

The zoo administration stressed that the employee was in the service area and was performing routine activities. The Jerusalem Bible Zoo has announced that it will be closed to visitors until further notice.

On July 6, it became known that a woman lost her arm as a result of a lion bite at a zoo in the Australian state of Queensland. The incident occurred at the Darling Downs Zoo in Pilton. The animal attacked the visitor, grabbing her by the hand, while she was watching the caretakers working in the predator control department.
