An aftershock of magnitude 6.1 was recorded off the coast of Kamchatka. This was announced on August 2 in the Telegram channel of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
The seismic event occurred 196 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is noted that it was recorded at 11:05 UTC (14:05 Moscow time).
According to experts, the earthquake was located at a depth of almost 60 km.
Earlier that day, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the Kamchatka Territory reported that 150 aftershocks had been recorded in the region. Their magnitude ranged from 3.2 to 6.2.
