The trade turnover between Russia and Bulgaria in 2024 amounted to $1 billion, which is 74% lower than in 2023. This was announced on August 2 by Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova.

"According to local statistics, the bilateral trade turnover reached $1 billion in 2024. However, this is 74% lower than in 2023, which reached $4.2 billion," RIA Novosti quoted Mitrofanova as saying.

She stressed that in the current conditions, for the first time, the Russian Federation did not enter the top ten of Bulgaria's main partners.

On July 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reminded the Bulgarian authorities of a possible response to lawlessness against the Russian Federation.
