US President Donald Trump has begun climbing the "ladder of nuclear escalation" by announcing the redeployment of American nuclear submarines. This was reported by The Daily Telegraph on August 1.

"It is unclear which submarines Mr. Trump has moved, but experts have stated that some nuclear-armed vessels are likely to already be located around Russia," the publication says.

It is specified that if Russian President Vladimir Putin decides to take a similar step, a serious crisis will begin. However, such a scenario is unlikely, the publication emphasized.

The newspaper drew attention to the fact that even during the Cold War, American presidents did not send submarines with nuclear weapons to Russian shores.

The Wall Street Journal reported on March 31 that the US administration and the European Union (EU) countries expressed doubts about the American leader's change of position regarding Russia and his initiative to conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine. The publication noted that the United States has not imposed any new sanctions against Russia since January 20.
