A driver who tried to enter the Davis-Monthan military base in Arizona was shot dead in the United States. This was reported on August 1 by the CBS News channel, citing security sources.

"A security officer at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base shot and killed a man on Friday who was trying to illegally enter the base near Tucson, Arizona," the material says.

It is specified that the incident occurred at about 02:30 (12:30 Moscow time). The suspect drove up to the main gate, did not stop and did not introduce himself. His erratic driving led to a collision with a guardrail, after which he began to reverse. In response, an employee of the base shot at the man, it follows from the publication.

The commander of the 355th Air Wing, Colonel Jose Cabrera, expressed regret over the incident, the media added. Karber noted that the actions of the serviceman were consistent with his training and established rules aimed at ensuring the safety of the facility and the pilots.

The Associated Press (AP) reported on July 29 that about 50 soldiers were killed in an attack by armed militants on a military base in Burkina Faso. It was clarified that about 100 militants were involved in the attack on the base.
