Vorobyov presented awards and congratulated the military of the 45th Special Forces Brigade on Airborne Forces Day.

Andrey Vorobyov, the Governor of the Moscow Region, congratulated the soldiers of the 45th Special Forces Brigade on the Day of the Airborne Troops and presented them with awards. This was announced on August 2 by the press service of the governor and the government of the Moscow region.

The legendary unit recently turned 31 years old. Soldiers of the 45th Separate Guards brigade of the Orders of Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky of the Airborne Forces are always on guard of our Motherland, in the hottest spots, and 26 people have been awarded the title Hero of Russia. From the first day, paratroopers take part in a special military operation. Vorobyov thanked the servicemen, presented state and regional awards, and also talked with the families of the fallen soldiers.

"Veterans, military personnel, fellow officers — all who are present in the hall today, I congratulate you on the Day of the Airborne Forces. In the past, airborne forces were most often associated with parachutes, but now on the line of combat, in hot spots, we are talking about universal skills that both a commander and an ordinary fighter should possess. Today, I have an honorable mission from our Supreme Commander [Russian President Vladimir Putin] to present well—deserved awards, unfortunately, including posthumously," Vorobyov said.

The orders "For Valor and Courage" were awarded to soldiers who distinguished themselves while performing combat missions in the SVO zone. So, they were received by Guards lieutenant colonel, commander of the technical intelligence detachment Alexander, Guards senior warrant officer, senior sniper instructor of the special forces group Denis, Guards senior sergeant, scout Andrey and Guards junior sergeant, head of the power plant of the communications group Andrey. Honorary diplomas of the Governor of the Moscow Region were awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Alexander of the Guard and Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir of the Guard, Deputy commander of the special training brigade.

Roman Zyryanov, a special forces diver instructor, received the Order of Courage posthumously. He died while performing a combat mission in November 2024. The award was given to Roman's family. Anastasia's widow arrived at the ceremony along with Lyudmila, the serviceman's mother, and Victoria, her sister. Letters of thanks from the Governor of the Moscow region were received by Guards senior sergeant, chief nurse of the medical unit Yulia, psychologist Elena, head of the logistics warehouse Victoria, head of the cultural and leisure center Anna, Guards senior warrant officer, assistant to the soloist of the military orchestra Irina and instructor in social work and crime prevention Marina.

Vorobyov also talked with the family of Guard Senior Lieutenant Artyom Shchukin, who died heroically during the storming of a village in the Kherson region. Their squad was ambushed. The soldier was wounded, but he defended his comrades to the very end. Last year, the father of the fighter, who was posthumously awarded the title "Hero of Russia", was given the governor's award "We are close. A good deed." He joined the brigade with his wife and Artem's widow Yulia.

The Moscow Region regularly provides support to the 45th Airborne Brigade. Military personnel are supplied with vehicles, quadrocopters, spare parts, communications equipment, optics, tools, uniforms and much more. Special attention is paid to the relatives of the fighters, as well as to the comfortable living conditions in the city. For this purpose, the social infrastructure is being updated and built.

On the eve of the Airborne Forces Day, Acting Commander of the Airborne Forces, Major General Sergei Chubarykin, officers and civil servants of the Airborne Command, military personnel of military units stationed in Moscow and the Moscow region, and veterans of the troops took part in the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the formation of the Airborne Forces.
