Protests against Trump's tariffs were held at the US diplomatic missions in Brazil
Brazilian trade unions have organized protests at the US consulates against the duties imposed by US President Donald Trump. This was reported on August 1 by the newspaper O Globo.
"Demonstrators protested in front of the United States Consulate in southern Sao Paulo against Trump. These actions, which are supported by trade unions <...>, were also held in other cities," the publication says.
It is noted that the crowd carried posters criticizing the White House administration, including the slogans "Trump, hands off Brazil!". The article emphasized that some of the protesters burned the American flag at the time of the rally.
Sergio Nobre, president of the United Workers Center (CUT), noted that Trump's "encroachment" on the Brazilian judicial system is the "biggest threat to Brazil's democracy and sovereignty," the newspaper writes.
On the same day, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced that the US response to the tariffs was already under development. He noted that this is necessary to protect the economy of the state and employees involved in various corporations in the country.
