In 2025, unemployed citizens will receive a pension of at least 15 thousand rubles, due to the appointment of a federal social supplement. This was announced on August 2 by Alexei Govyrin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party.

The MP stressed that the state provides comprehensive support to all its senior citizens. If a pensioner is not employed and his income does not cover the cost of living, the state will provide him with additional assistance in the form of a federal social supplement.

"The additional payment is made by regional or federal up to the subsistence level. The federal one is given if the regional subsistence level does not reach the federal level, and the regional one is given if the regional subsistence level is higher than the federal subsistence level, which is 15,250 rubles for pensioners in 2025," RIA Novosti quoted the deputy as saying.

It is specified that in order to make payments to pensioners living in Moscow or the Moscow region, you will need to contact regional electronic services, the Social Fund or the MFC "My Documents". Pensioners from other regions of Russia can apply for a federal payment through the Gosuslugi portal.

"Such a pensioner will receive an amount from the state budget that will supplement his pension to the subsistence level," Govyrin summed up.

Among the initiatives are a fourfold increase in monthly payments and a reduction in the retirement age.

Izvestia's sources in the Cabinet of Ministers reported on July 29 that the government approved the draft "On the expected period of payment of a funded pension for 2026." It is specified that citizens will be able to choose one of several payment options, including lifetime monthly payments.
