The Su-35S crew performed combat duty in the area of the special operation.

The crew of the Su-35S multipurpose, super-maneuverable thrust-vector fighter of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) performed combat duty in the interests of the Yuzhnaya group of forces in the area of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced on August 2 by the Ministry of Defense.

The purpose of combat duty in the air was to cover bomber and assault aircraft, as well as army helicopters, in a given area of operation when air strikes were launched against military installations and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Tactical aviation pilots fly combat missions at any time, in any weather conditions, with various types of aircraft weapons.

On August 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of a Ka-52M helicopter had destroyed the Armed Forces of Ukraine located in a wooded area of the North group of forces in the area of the SVO.
