India will stop importing Russian oil in order to reach a trade deal with the United States. This was announced on August 1 by US President Donald Trump to reporters at the White House, commenting on the trade talks between New Delhi and Washington.

"As far as I understand, India is no longer going to buy oil from Russia. That's what I've heard. <...> It's a good step," he said.
