VDNKH celebrated its 86th anniversary
VDNH in Moscow celebrated its 86th anniversary on August 1. This is not just an exhibition complex, but a unique space that unites modern museums, green areas with fountains and flower beds, as well as facilities for sports, recreation and entertainment.
As the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said on Friday, August 1, knowledge, culture and history are combined here, which are warmly remembered by many generations of Muscovites and guests of the capital. VDNKH receives over 30 million visitors annually, continuing to inspire with its diversity and welcoming atmosphere, Moscow 24 notes.
Sobyanin recalled that the new history of VDNH began in 2013 after President Vladimir Putin's decision to transfer the complex to the jurisdiction of the Moscow government. During this time, a large—scale restoration program was implemented, within the framework of which 42 historical and cultural monuments were restored - about 90% of all heritage sites on the territory of the exhibition, writes NSN.
The mayor noted that each project required painstaking work and scientific research, as well as a constant search for ideas to revitalize the pavilions and create new points of attraction. He thanked federal agencies, large companies and governments of friendly countries for their participation in the revival of VDNH, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
The Moscow monorail next to VDNKh completed its work on June 28. By 2027, it is planned to open Russia's first year-round park at altitude in its place. The monorail was built more than 20 years ago. During this time, it has not become a full-fledged part of the urban transport system, notes 360.ru .
