People's Artist of the RSFSR, director and teacher Yuri Eremin, who adapted classical literature texts for the theatrical stage, has died at the age of 81. This was announced on August 1 by the press service of the Mossovet State Academic Theater.

"The Mossovet Theater is deeply saddened to announce the death of <...> Yuri Ivanovich Eremin," the service said in a Telegram message.

Yeremin, who was born in 1944 in Kolomna, throughout his creative career "found the keys" to the drama of the XIX and XX centuries: he staged high-class performances based on both foreign prose and productions based on the works of Russian classics — Dostoevsky, Lermontov and Turgenev, adapted films for the theatrical stage and worked for an audience of different ages, creating many theatrical performances for teenagers.

The press service noted that Eremin was convinced that if art "does not touch the strings of the soul," it becomes completely unnecessary and, as a student of Soviet and Russian theater director Pavel Chomsky, inspired many artists and colleagues to new achievements in their creative path.

Yeremin maintained warm relations in the team and at each gathering of the troupe of the Mossovet Theater, where he joined after leading many theaters across the country, Yuri Ivanovich congratulated on behalf of the theater of the anniversaries, informed about the additions to the families of artists and employees.
