The Russian Foreign Ministry declared the inadmissibility of a direct conflict between the United States and Russia.

A direct military confrontation between the United States and Russia cannot be allowed. This was announced on August 1 by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, whose statement was posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"[U.S. Secretary of State Marco] Rubio recently confirmed a responsible approach, clearly stating that a direct military confrontation between the United States and Russia should never be allowed. We fully agree with this. And this is also the result of mutual understanding reached during the Russian-American dialogue," Lavrov said.

The head of the department added that the American side understands "the prevailing realities" and seeks to take into account the root causes of the conflict on the territory of Ukraine, unlike the Europeans, "focused on aggressive Russophobia."

Lavrov called the discussion of Ukrainian issues by Moscow and Washington very useful. He also noted the persistence of US President Donald Trump, thanks to which Kiev agreed to resume negotiations.

"Three rounds have already taken place. In addition to important humanitarian agreements, we proposed the creation of working groups on political and military issues...> We are waiting for a specific reaction from Kiev. In the meantime, instead of it, there are mutually exclusive statements by [President of Ukraine Vladimir] Zelensky," the foreign minister said.

According to Lavrov, the United States is interested in ensuring human rights and national minorities and could provide an objective assessment of such a situation.

"This would be an important step towards tangible progress," the minister concluded.
