A resident of the Lipetsk region is awaiting trial for a drunken accident with the deceased

In the Lipetsk region, the investigation of a criminal case against a motorist from the Chaplyginsky district, who got behind the wheel while intoxicated and caused a fatal accident, has been completed. The regional prosecutor's office announced this on Friday, August 1.

The accident occurred in November 2024 on the highway Lev Tolstoy village – Krivopolyanye village. A 54-year-old local resident, intoxicated, got behind the wheel of a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV and lost control.

The car tipped over into a ditch. As a result of the accident, the 47-year-old passenger of the car received multiple injuries, from which she died on the spot.

The motorist is charged under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person committed by a person in a state of intoxication." The man did not admit his guilt.

According to GOROD48, the sanction of this article provides for from five to 12 years in prison.

In March of this year, a court in the Trans-Baikal Territory sentenced a resident of the village of Chernyshevsk, who got drunk behind the wheel of someone else's car, lost control and killed a man returning home with his wife. At the time of the accident, a 26-year-old young man was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
