Soueast brand crossovers may begin to be assembled in Russia
In Russia, the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant will begin production of Soueast crossovers. This was reported on August 1 by the Chinese Cars portal, citing its sources familiar with the model certification process.
According to them, Avtotor Avtobalt, which is part of the ecosystem of the Avtotor plant, has received a declaration of conformity for Soueast S07 and S09 crossovers. This document is necessary to obtain Vehicle Type Approval (OTT), which will allow the start of mass sales of cars in Russia and the EAEU countries. The type of the object of declaration is serial production.
Currently, all Soueast vehicles are supplied to the Russian market from China. The S07 model costs from 3.1 to 3.5 million rubles, and the larger S09 SUV costs from 3.9 to 4.1 million rubles. Both crossovers are available with both front and all-wheel drive. The first is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine (186 or 190 hp), the second is a 197—horsepower two-liter. Soueast began sales in Russia at the end of 2024.
Back in March of this year, Avtotor announced that it had completed the installation of a robotic welding line that allows the production of several body models on one platform. The production capacity of the line reaches 80 thousand bodies per year. It was not specified which models were put on the assembly line.
Earlier, on May 23, the Soueast car brand denied suggestions of a possible withdrawal from the Russian market. The company said that it has big plans to expand its product line.
