The first direct scheduled flight from Saudi Arabia to Russia landed at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport. This was reported on August 1 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
"Today is a remarkable, landmark event in the history of civil aviation of the two countries. <...> A lot of work has been done by the Ministry of Transport, the Federal Air Transport Agency, with the constant support of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Federation Council, the State Duma and other ministries and departments of our country, with our partners and colleagues from Saudi Arabia," — said the Deputy head of the Ministry of Transport Vladimir Poteshkin.
The flight of the Saudi company Flynas took off from Riyadh at 08:42 Moscow time and landed in Moscow at 13:46. It is noted that there were 155 passengers on it. Flights will be operated three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The company also plans to launch the Riyadh - St. Petersburg route.
The passengers who arrived on the first flight expressed their gratitude to the Russian side. One of them stressed that he had been waiting for this flight for a long time and hoped for an early cancellation of visas for Saudi citizens. In addition, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation expects the launch of Azimut flights from Russia to Saudi Arabia in October. The airline is currently undergoing all training procedures.
