Belarus will create a special brigade in the border area with Ukraine

A new airborne assault brigade will be formed in Belarus in the Gomel region bordering Ukraine. This was announced on August 1 by the commander of the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic Vadim Denisenko on the air of the channel "First Information".

"It was decided to strengthen the southern section. Today, this is the most restless area, so to speak, which keeps us all on our toes. Therefore, it was decided to create a separate airborne assault brigade there," the BelTA news agency quoted the commander as saying.

Denisenko added that the formation of the 37th separate Airborne Assault Guards brigade has already begun, and one of the battalions has been created. In addition, this year the special operations forces of the Republic of Belarus will have a rocket artillery regiment. It's 70% ready.

In January, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the situation on the border of Belarus is currently difficult. He also noted that all law enforcement agencies are involved in protecting the border of Belarus, since it is difficult to ensure the protection of over 3.6 thousand km only by border troops.

At the same time, Anton Bychkovsky, the press secretary of the State Border Committee of Belarus. He said that the situation on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border is under control, at the moment the presence of about 15 thousand Ukrainian military is being recorded.
