The Slovenian government has banned any arms trade with Israel due to the humanitarian crisis and continued fighting in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Euractiv on August 1, citing a government statement.

"Slovenia has stated that it will ban any arms trade with Israel because of the war in Gaza," the publication says.

Slovenia has become the first European country to ban the import, export and transit of weapons to and from Israel, according to Euractiv. It clarifies that Ljubljana is forced to make such a decision independently, and not in cooperation with other EU countries (EU) due to the inability of European countries "to take concrete measures due to internal disagreements and disunity."

The Slovenian government noted that amid the crisis in the Gaza Strip, it is the duty of a responsible state to take action, even if it means "taking a step ahead of others." In addition, since October 2023, the country has not issued a permit for the export of military weapons and equipment to Israel.

Euractiv reported yesterday that the Swedish government is calling on the EU to suspend the trade agreement between the bloc and Israel in order to put pressure on the government of the Jewish state over the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip. Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Steenergaard noted that Israel uses starvation among the civilian population of the Gaza Strip as one of the methods of warfare, and this is a war crime.

On July 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) introduced a daily humanitarian pause in the fighting in Gaza. It was clarified that such measures are in effect in areas where the IDF conducts operations. They also included Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah and Gaza.

On the same day, journalist Muhammad Mattar told Izvestia about queues outside a charity kitchen in the Gaza Strip. According to him, the food crisis in the region has worsened due to the closure of checkpoints, the shelling of the charity kitchen and its employees by the occupation forces.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
