Sakhalin Expo opens in Pushisty droneport

Sakhalin Expo, which will become the center of convention and exhibition activities in the Far East, has opened in the Sakhalin Region on the territory of Russia's first Pushisty drone port. International and national events will be held here, including forums, exhibitions, concerts, and sports competitions.

Sakhalin Expo was created in a short time jointly with the Roscongress Foundation and began its work with an international event, the Islands of Sustainable Development: the Climate Aspect forum. On August 1-2, a thousand leading experts from a dozen countries will learn the interim results of the Sakhalin experiment on achieving carbon neutrality, a balance between greenhouse gas emissions and uptake.

At the opening ceremony, a drone delivered a symbolic key to Sakhalin Expo. It was created by schoolchildren participating in the technical shift at Sakhalintech Alaid. The young 3D modeler handed the key to Governor Valery Limarenko and Igor Pavlov, First Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum.

"Russia has set a course for the east, towards the growing markets of the Asia-Pacific region. Today, Sakhalin, together with Roscongress, cut another window into the Asia-Pacific region. It is symbolic that Sakhalin Expo opens here, on the shores of the Sea of Okhotsk, on the territory of Russia's first Pushisty drone port. The Korsakov Port is being upgraded nearby. This is a future logistics center where goods will be delivered and transported throughout the Far East, Russia and the Asia-Pacific region. The Sakhalin economy has great prospects. We have gas, oil, coal, seafood. New segments are developing – logistics business, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, energy. These projects are not an abstraction, they have already been launched and are being successfully implemented," Valery Limarenko said.

Sakhalin Expo will host two more major events in the fall: The Wings of Sakhalin Unmanned Vehicles Forum for All Environments on September 6-8 and the Sakhalin Oil and Gas Far Eastern Energy Forum on September 25-26.

"Congratulations to the residents of the Sakhalin Region and the entire team who worked to ensure that this beautiful complex was opened on time. This is a tremendous achievement and serious teamwork under the leadership of the governor. This is also a new stage for the Roscongress Foundation. Sakhalin Expo will become the center of convention and exhibition activities in the Far East. I am sure that Sakhalin residents and guests of the island will be interested in attending events at the new site," said Igor Pavlov, First Deputy Director of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the WEF.

Sakhalin Expo consists of three large–scale glass and metal pavilions equipped with everything necessary. During the climate forum, an exhibition and sale of Sakhalin-made goods was held here. Medicinal mud from Sinegorsk Mineral Waters, fir oil, seal oil supplements, bamboo bath brooms, sweets and marmalade with island wild plants and kelp, herbal teas: visitors have the opportunity to purchase unique products, and entrepreneurs have the opportunity to promote them to foreign markets in other regions and countries.

The pavilion was decorated with works by Sakhalin artists. The Air festival, which takes place during the days of the forum, will inspire the masters of the brush to create new creations. Artists will capture a spectacular balloon show en plein air.

At the drone exhibition, you can get acquainted with dozens of samples that help fight landfills and forest fires, monitor the condition of roads and riverbeds, and solve many other tasks in the national economy.

Participants and guests of the climate forum can also visit the eco-friendly transport exhibition, watch the drone race, enjoy island cuisine on the gastronomic street and see performances by the best Sakhalin performers and bands at the concert program.

In the future, Sakhalin Expo will occupy an important place on the event agenda of the country and the region, making public and business life on the islands even more intense and interesting. This platform will bring together leading industry experts and propose solutions for the socio-economic development of the Sakhalin Region. In addition, Sakhalin Expo will regularly host events for Sakhalin residents in the fields of sports, culture, education, military-patriotic education and youth policy.

The tenth anniversary Eastern Economic Forum will be held on September 3-6, 2025 in Vladivostok. The main theme of this year's WEF is "The Far East – cooperation for peace and Prosperity." The WEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
