UEFA fined Ukrainian FC "Alexandria" for racist behavior of fans
The control and disciplinary body of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has fined the Ukrainian club "Alexandria" for the racist behavior of fans during the first match of the Conference League qualification against the Serbian "Partizan". This is reported on the official website of UEFA.
"To fine FC Alexandria 20,000 euros and order the partial closure of the FC Alexandria stadium for at least 500 adjacent seats during the next match of the UEFA tournament, which it will play as the host club, for the racist behavior of its fans," the statement said.
It is noted that in case of repeated violations within two years, the Alexandria club faces a sanction in the form of partial closure of the stands at home matches in European competitions.
The first match between Alexandria and Partizan took place on July 25 and ended with a 2-0 away victory for the Serbian club. During the meeting, fans of the Ukrainian team insulted Partizan players because of the club's participation in off-season tournaments in Russia, writes Sport-Express.
On February 25, Mexican referee Marco Ortiz was suspended for six months for taking an autograph from the striker of the American football club (FC) Inter Miami and the Argentine national team Lionel Messi after the match.
