Putin reported on Kiev's positive reaction to the proposal to create working groups.

Ukraine's first reaction to the proposal to create working groups on the settlement was positive. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 1.

According to him, in order to resolve the conflict peacefully, it is necessary to have a thorough conversation not in public, but in a calm atmosphere, in the silence of the negotiation process.

"That's why we proposed creating three groups <...>. In general, the reaction of the Ukrainian side was positive," he said after a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

Putin stressed that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations had agreed to negotiate without cameras, in a calm manner, and to seek compromises. He clarified that at the moment the groups have not yet started working, but the head of state expressed hope for the launch of the relevant process.
