The crime comedy "Gel" directed by Stas Ivanov will be the opening film of the Window to Europe Festival of Russian Cinema. The distributor of the project is the NMG Film Distribution company (part of the National Media Group holding).

The film tells the story of trucker Sanya (actor Ilya Malakov), who is forced to agree to an order to overtake a criminally acquired Gelandewagen car. The adventure turns into a police chase, which confronts the hero with Captain Orekhov, played by Anton Vasiliev. The film will be released on August 21, 2025.

"Gelya" is my kind of nod to the crime comedy genre. The main character, Sanya, is trying at all costs to get from point A to point B behind the wheel of a pink car he stole. All his adventures fit into one day of the story and an hour and a half of screen time," said the director.

According to Ivanov, the comedy contains a rather curious plot and colorful characters from the action films of the 90s. He called the film a fairy tale for adults, where the main character wanted to solve the situation "if possible, in a kind way."

The Window to Europe Russian Film Festival will be held for the 33rd time in Vyborg from August 8 to 14.

Earlier, on May 28, the Ol Media Company film company (part of the START group of companies), together with the online cinema START, the REN TV channel and 74 Film Studio, presented a poster and trailer for the comedy Gel. The film's producer, Georgy Shabanov, emphasized that the director has a great feel for the crime comedy genre and knows how to work in it.
