- In Europe, they pointed to the growing fatigue of Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic
More than half of Czech citizens (58%) believe that their country has accepted too many Ukrainian refugees. Such data was provided on August 1 by the Euractiv portal with reference to the results of a survey conducted by the STEM agency.
"If the economic situation worsens, co—existence with Ukrainians may become much more difficult," said Jiri Taborsky, a STEM analyst.
Also, according to the survey, 40% of Czechs stressed that they tolerate Ukrainians, but are tired of their presence. At the same time, 52% of respondents support granting asylum to Ukrainians, while 31% consider them useful.
It is noted that currently about 373 thousand Ukrainians with temporary protection status live in the Czech Republic, which is the third largest indicator in the EU after Germany and Poland.
On July 16, the radio studio Polskie Radio Dla Ukraine reported that the Polish Sejm approved changes to the program of assistance to Ukrainian refugees, according to which, from November 1, the Collective Refugee Accommodation Centers (OZZ) will accept only representatives of protected groups from Ukraine. These groups include pensioners, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
The Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung noted on June 7 that the presence of Ukrainian refugees in European countries could lead to a conflict in the European Union (EU), whose authorities cannot determine their legal status.
