On July 30, representatives of the Interregional Directorate of Rosalkogoltakcontrol for the Ural Federal District, together with employees of the Chelyabinsk Customs, stopped an attempt to import more than 1 million packs of unmarked and undocumented tobacco into Russia at the border of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan. This was announced on July 31 on the official website of the Federal Service for Alcohol and Tobacco Market Control.

"During the customs inspection of a vehicle traveling from the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation, tobacco products of various names were found without accompanying documents and labeling by means of identification," the material says.

It is specified that 1,032,400 packs of tobacco products were seized.

The Russian Interior Ministry announced on July 22 that a resident of Kansk, Krasnoyarsk Territory, was sentenced to one and a half years in prison on probation for trafficking unmarked cigarettes. It was clarified that before the New Year holidays, the defendant purchased cigarettes from various foreign companies that were not marked with excise stamps and stored them in a rented garage for further sale at local retail outlets. According to Part 6 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Acquisition, storage and sale of goods without labeling"), the man was sentenced to one year and six months of probation with a probation period of two years.
