Sobyanin summed up the results of eight years of renovation
The renovation program in Moscow, launched in 2017, has become one of the largest housing renovation projects in the world, said the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin. As part of the program, 410 houses have been built, and about 500 more buildings are in operation.
"This is a driver for the development of the construction industry and the country's economy," Sobyanin said in a Telegram channel. He noted that almost 100% of building materials are of domestic production. Concrete, rebar, engineering systems, paints, windows are supplied by more than 15 regions of Russia.
Renovation is not just about modern houses, Sobyanin reminded. Thanks to her, over a thousand new playgrounds and sports grounds have appeared in the city, as well as social facilities are being built, a barrier-free environment is developing and the engineering infrastructure is being updated.
The renovation program was approved in Moscow on August 1, 2017. It includes 5,176 houses — about 350,000 apartments with a total area of 16.4 million square meters, which are home to almost a million residents. The duration of the program is 15 years. The first new residents moved into their new homes in February 2018.
The number of people who have started to relocate is growing every year, the mayor's office said. So, if in 2018-2020, about 34 thousand Muscovites received offers of equivalent apartments in new buildings, then in 2021, almost 36 thousand citizens began to relocate to new residential complexes. Last year, more than 49.1 thousand participants in the program received notifications about the start of resettlement, and 53 thousand residents are scheduled to be relocated this year.
Earlier, Sobyanin spoke about plans for the renovation of nine- and twelve-story buildings. According to him, many of them "from the point of view of structural safety are even worse than Khrushchev's five-story buildings." "Therefore, we are thinking about working with this category of houses," Sobyanin said.
