The first matches of the International Beach Soccer Cup were held in Moscow.
The International Beach Soccer Cup started in Moscow on Thursday, July 31. Eight teams from six countries — Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Iran and Belarus, as well as three teams from Russia - arrived in the capital to participate in the tournament.
The cup was opened by a match in which the winners of last year took part. Also, Moscow Locomotive has already managed to defeat the Malaysara team from Kazakhstan with a score of 17:1.
"It's going to be easier for them, they ran away a little bit, they got a baptism of fire," said Fyodor Zemskov, a player from Lokomotiv.
The Moscow International Beach Soccer Cup is being held for the fourth time. Ilya Masyutin, one of the fans, shared that there is a beach sports sector in his native Korolev. He clarified that his children are engaged in beach soccer, so the family came to cheer for the Russian team.
The tournament site was equipped with a drainage system against the background of the meteorological anomalies of the current summer. The fans were protected from the rain, but the Al Makhmal team from Saudi Arabia played the game under precipitation and was able to beat the Belarusian TSOR with a score of 5:3. The football player of the winning team, Rabi, expressed his joy at being present at the tournament and noted the good start of the competition.
The coach of the Belarusian team, Mikhail Gorbachev, in turn, shared that he would give his athletes instructions in order to eliminate the mistakes made by the next game.
In addition to Lokomotiv, Strogino represents Moscow at the tournament. The national team, which faced personnel difficulties and missed the fastest goal of the tournament in the second second of the match from the center of the field, is also taking part. At the same time, after the score 0-3, the team scored five goals in a row, giving the country a victory.
"I always tell the guys: if you don't tune in before the match, then it's impossible to do it in the process. Today was the case. The guys probably thought that due to the class, due to the skill, they would turn this match into an easy walk. And it turned out how it turned out. It's a powerful fighting game," said Mikhail Likhachev, coach of the Russian national beach soccer team.
There are three more days of the tournament ahead. The group stage matches are expected initially, and on Sunday, August 3, the final matches will take place, where the winners of the gold medals of the cup will be decided.
Russian swimmer Kirill Prigoda set a new national record in the 100 m breaststroke at the World Championships in Singapore on July 27. In the preliminary round, he took first place, clocking 58.53 seconds.
