The Russian fighter spent more than 60 days on the Dnieper Islands
A sapper of the 80th separate Motorized Rifle Arctic brigade with the call sign Tolstoy spent 63 days on the Dnieper Islands in combat conditions. This was announced on August 1 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
It is indicated that during a long sortie, the soldier came under fire more than once.
"The task has been set. And he did it. There is simply no choice in such a situation," the fighter's words are quoted in the department's Telegram channel.
According to the newspaper of the Northern Fleet "On Guard of the Arctic", during the sortie, a fighter was injured when an enemy drone attacked. On the islands, he had to provide himself with medical care on his own.
"I tightened everything, but tighter. And he continued to carry out combat missions. Our drone pilots delivered medicines to me through the sky. They dropped them at the right point, and on the radio they were told how to use them. I held out until the shift," he told the publication.
After being wounded, Tolstoy took up the position of cook in his unit. The fighter tries to cook deliciously even in the absence of a variety of products and once a week he makes dumplings that his colleagues like.
On July 4, it became known that a resident of the Urzhumsky district of the Kirov region, who was serving in the special operation zone, single-handedly deployed a field hospital, rescued 80 people and overtook a downed Russian tank. He carried out combat missions in the Ocheretino area of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), while operating under continuous shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and drone attacks.
