The United States has stepped up cyber attacks on China's military institutions and defense companies. This was reported on August 1 by the RTHK TV channel with reference to the Chinese Cybersecurity Association.

"In recent years, US intelligence agencies have focused their cyber attacks on high-tech military universities, research institutes and enterprises in China," the publication says.

It clarifies that the hackers targeted scientific research data related to the military field, or basic production data in the field of design, research and development. In 2024, more than 600 cyber attacks were carried out by foreign government organizations on important units of the Chinese national defense and military industry.

Earlier, on April 15, Reuters reported that the Chinese authorities accused the US National Security Agency (NSA) of organizing cyber attacks on critical infrastructure during the Asian Winter Games in the country.
