U.S. senators have introduced a bill to provide Ukraine with $54.6 billion in aid from Russian assets. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on July 31.

"A pair of bipartisan senators on Thursday introduced a bill to provide Ukraine with $54.6 billion in aid over the next two years," the article says.

The newspaper clarified that despite the fact that a third of this aid will be provided by seized Russian assets and arms sales to European partners, Republicans have so far refrained from explicitly supporting the proposed military assistance, since it remains unclear exactly which part will be covered by Russian assets and arms sales.

The publication clarified that the proposal to allocate money for arming Ukraine is likely to face serious obstacles in Congress due to the resistance of Republicans and the position of US President Donald Trump, who advocates reducing international aid.

It is reported that the bill will legitimize the agreement between the United States and Ukraine regarding the supply of minerals, which will allow using the proceeds from the sale of the country's natural resources to reimburse the United States.

On July 31, the Pentagon announced that the United States would allocate $3.5 billion for the purchase of AMRAAM missiles for Kiev. In addition to Ukraine, the contract provides for foreign military supplies to Denmark, Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Israel and other countries.
