On July 31, US President Donald Trump called on the US Senate not to break for the scheduled break and to continue its work on appointing new candidates to government positions.

"The Senate should remain in session without taking breaks. <...> For the sake of the health and safety of the United States, do your job and approve all candidates," he wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.

Trump asked the Senate "not to keep waiting" for people who are being elected to new positions.

On July 20, Trump already called on the leader of the Republican Party in the US Senate, John Thune, to abandon the break when working in the department, which is usually held twice a year— in winter and summer, so that senators can return to their states and meet with voters.
